WaveAce 224 — Refunded !
Thanks again to everybody who was involved: eevblog and LeCroy’s current CEO Mr. Reslewic. A special thank-you goes to Hilary Lustig (also with LeCroy) for getting the machinery started. I’m glad LeCroy have handled it that way. This finally concludes … Continue reading
Picked up and gone!
Today I received a call by DHL, which confirmed the pickup day and time. The WaveAce 224 was successfully picked up today at 12:09 and is now on its way to LeCroy Switzerland.

I received an email today…
The sender was the current CEO of LeCroy, Thomas H. Reslewic. I’m glad they have finally taken action. I was offered a full refund. I hope they will also look into all the WaveAce 224 issues I’ve documented so far … Continue reading
WaveAce 224 — Mini rant #11: Bricked for 10 minutes!
This is a ‘close relative’ to the ‘eternal boot screen’. It is also caused by the all-mighty triggering system, which governs the whole oscilloscope – even when it shouldn’t. One of the most annoying things is that this can block … Continue reading
WaveAce 224 — Mini rant #10: Eternal boot splash
Usually when I turn it on it shows the blue Lecroy splash screen, thinks for a while, clicks a few relays, beeps, and then show the usual screen, channel information, grid and so forth. It got a bit warm today.

WaveAce 224 — Mini rant #9: ZOOM Zoom zoom… or NOT…
Will it ever end? How many bugs are there still to be discovered… A word of warning: there will be some strong language in the post. If anybody affiliated with Lecroy should read this, please feel offended – not as … Continue reading

WaveAce 224 — Mini rant #8: Signal averaging continued
Another quirk. I seem to have a talent to upset this device. Showing a signal that isn’t there should not happen though.

WaveAce 224 — Mini rant #6: Cursors and auto-measurements
Automatic cursors are supposed to show what and where stuff is measured on a waveform when automatic measurements are used. This is pretty useful, if it works as expected. Suffice to say that it doesn’t always do that – unfortunately.
WaveAce 224 — Mini rant #5: Now what is this?
Got the ‘pulse-trigger’ to trigger. This time I don’t care if the set pulse-length is actually accurate, I just wanted it to trigger on the ‘thing’ and it did. Fine – happy happy joy joy! Then I felt like moving … Continue reading

Lecroy WaveAce 224 — Mini hack #001: Upgraded ground clip
I managed to damage the alligator clip on one of my probe’s ground cables. It was probably a bad one and it fatigued. I replaced the alligator clip with one I found in a box. During this procedure it turned … Continue reading

Lecroy WaveAce 224 — Mini rant #3: Quality control…
Where art thou? This time I have discovered issues that are trigger-related, but more suitably filed under “general displaying issues”. Still using the “1.01.01.18R2” firmware. Just have a look at the video. No more words…
Lecroy WaveAce 224 — Mini praise #1: Quick support response
Today I got informed that the pulse-trigger ‘bug’ has been confirmed and has been forwarded to the developers. Let’s see what comes out of that. Of course I replied and thanked them in advance. I also hinted that they might … Continue reading

Oh boy, this thing can’t even count correctly… or since when is 7 = 9 ? Pulse-Trigger: I call that a bug.

Lecroy WaveAce 224 — Mini-rant #1
This is the first post regarding the Lecroy WaveAce 224 DSO. As it currently seems I have material for at least a few short posts. Currently I’m having issues with one important knob and the triggering system.
