KiCad push & shove router — CERN code-contribution

Yesterday the KiCad developers merged about 1 year of coding time from CERN into the main development branch.

What’s new:

* OpenGL GUI (needs proper graphics card – may not work on laptop graphics chips)
* Cairo GUI (looks good, full anti-aliasing – not very fast)
* Push & Shove routing

You can switch the graphics between normal, OpenGL and Cairo by pressing a hotkey or from within a dropdown menu. Some functions are not yet implemented with the new rendering method, so switching back and forth will be necessary.

It’s not perfect, but very impressive! If this is an indicator of future improvements, better fasten your seat-belts!

If you want to use the OpenGL mode, make sure your graphics card / drivers support at least OpenGL V2.1
